New LEGO Racer Set????? No No No is from Mega Blok this time

Today, the monobrowed arch enemy of Legos, Mega Bloks, announced that they licensed EA’s Need for Speed in order to make a line of toys. I, for one, don’t understand this licensing at all.
Mega Bloks has actually had good licenses before. They made a line of Halo toys that weren’t half bad. They also were the first to license Pirates of the Caribbean for their construction sets, although that license has now been given to Lego for both toys and a video game.
I’m just not sure what value they see in licensing Need for Speed. Wouldn’t they get the exact same value by licensing the cars themselves from the manufacturers? The games have had a mixed pedigree, and I just don’t see people thinking “Gee, I really didn’t want a car set, but this has Need for Speed on it, so it must be good!”

Very Cool iPhone Case--Built with LEGO Bricks

You don't notice how nice things are until you have it in your hands. The case snaps on the phone, and is pretty tight. In fact, it's a bit of an effort to take the case off, but that is a positive thing to me. A drop is not going to snap this off. The plastic is clear (very clear) and it's a neat effect to see the Apple logo under it. The company logo is molded on the sides, and the cutout for the camera is in the shape of a 1 x 2 brick - a nice touch!
As a spoiled iObject owner (iphone, ipod, ipad) I have had issues with cases from a design standpoint. I like the simplicity of Apple's design, and many, many cases tend to be an effort on the case designer to completely cover the Apple look. I REALLY despise that. for my iPhone, I got an Apple Bumper, which was a neat pseudo case, but it wasn't compatible with the recharging docks I had. So I learned my parameters for a good case: 1. Solid. 2. Did not override the look of the phone 3. Was compatible with third-party chargers.

Kubricks Upcoming products!

Kubrick (キューブリック Kyūburikku?) is a line of collectible block-style figures and associated products created by Japanese toy company MediCom Toy Inc. Kubrick figures are produced in three scales, designated as 100% (six centimeters high), 400% (24 centimeters high), and 1000% (60 centimeters high). The basic Kubrick figure design has a body that resembles an extremely simplified human form, somewhat similar in appearance to Playmobil or Lego figures. Produced in limited numbers and not re-released, Kubricks are highly sought-after by collectors. Kubricks are predominantly collected by adults; the packaging recommends the figures to collectors 13 years or older.

Our shop will carry these block style figurines now!

DK Publishing’s LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia

Got some news in email today, and among them there was a link to this page on StarWars.com showcasing some of DK Publishing’s newest books slated for release sometime in 2011. The most interesting book was the Character Encyclopedia which is a visual compendium of every LEGO Star Wars minifigure to date. And, like the Visual Dictionary, it will come with an exclusive minifigure. Hopefully, it will be a medal ceremony Han Solo to complement the Luke figure.
