The International School of Billund is will introduce a focus on learning through play
The LEGO Foundation, the charity arm of The LEGO Group, has opened The International School of Billund in Denmark. The school will follow the curriculum set by the Danish government but will also introduce a focus on learning through play.
The connection between the school and The LEGO Foundation means certain lessons will occasionally be taught by LEGO employees and classes may be used as a testing ground for new products.
The International School of Billund has been set up by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, grandson of LEGO founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen and it welcomed 75 students aged between three and seven for the first week of teaching.
In the future, the LEGO
Foundation also hopes to collaborate with the school to learn more about
child development and product development.
